Blogs need to come back, long live the blog
There used to be a time when we wrote out our silly little tweets over longform blog posts (!!!), and replied to other people’s blogs with considered responses (!!!!) and maybe we even became slightly better writers and thinkers and people for it. Imagine!
Well, I miss it. I’m going to start trying to bring it back a little for my own personal practice and to get me off socials and into the work a bit more. I’ve been writing privately regularly, but we don’t get better in a vacuum. I’d love to feel a part of something that was about craft and improvement and doing better, and I feel like my writing needs it right now.
It’ll be a mix of work and thinky thoughts, and thinky thoughts about work, and worky thoughts about thinks. I write to make sense of the world around me and to pin my thoughts down in a way that helps me interrogate and scrutinize them. Social media feels set up to stop us from doing that, just churning the outrage bait over and over, which undoubtedly has had a chilling effect on anyone hoping to not be The Main Character that day.
What if I wrote like I wasn’t scared of what might happen?
